Thet Win Aung wins traditional Lethwei Championship with split decision

Thet Win Aung (360 Sports) beat Thway Thit Maung (White Blood) in the final match of the Myanmar Lethwei Championship with a split decision. Yesterday afternoon, the championship was held at Shwe Linban Industrial Zone, Hlinethaya Township, Yangon Region.

In the first round, both fighters waited for mistakes and responded carefully. In the second round, Thet Win Aung’s fist hurt Thway Thit Maung’s eyebrow. The Lethwei fighters continued to punch each other, but they could not land a knockdown until the end, and judges declared Thet Win Aung a winner via split decision.

The winner, Thet Win Aung beat Zwe Raman in the quarter-final and Elmwe in the semifinal to reach the final.

“It’s only been four months since I started competing in this tournament. Thway Thit Maung has experience in playing with points. After the win, I will continue to practice. However, no matter who the next opponent is, I will challenge him. In January 2024, I will compete with a Thai player in the Myinegyingu Kayin New Year Tournament,” said winner Thet Win Aung. — Bala Soe/KZL
