Erosion from Namhsan Creek has severely impacted a section of the Tongda–Kengtung Pyidaungsu Road between mileposts KM 577 and KM 577.5, approximately 100 yards east of the local police station in Tongda sub-Township, Kengtung District, Shan State(East) on 30 July at around 11:45 a.m.

The right side of the asphalt road experienced a landslide spanning approximately 70 feet due to the creek's erosion. By 6:05 a.m. the following morning, the affected road surface had sunk about five inches, with visible cracks forming along the centerline.

In response, U Khin Maung Lat, the Township Administrator, U Sai Phyo Thiha Htun, Chief of Tongda Police Station, Lieutenant Colonel Win Thet Khaing of No. 358 Light Infantry Battalion, and Lieutenant Colonel Chan Myay Aung of Light Infantry Battalion No. 293 visited the site to assess the damage.

Repair efforts are currently underway to restore the section of road that connects to Special Road No. 3, with safety measures being taken to ensure the protection of both pedestrians and vehicles passing through the area.— Myat Mon (IPRD)
