The 23rd Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners’ Conference aims to elevate quality accreditation in traditional medicine education.

 

 

 

VICE-SENIOR General Soe Win pointed out that Myanmar tradi­tional medicine practitioners have to cooperate with international organiza­tions in the traditional medicine sector in order to promote quality accreditation in traditional medicine education and medi­cines to penetrate the global community.

 

A coordination meeting of the Lead­ing Committee for Holding the 23rd Myan­mar Traditional Medicine Practitioners’ Conference and Myanmar Tra­ditional Medicine Seminar took place at the Ministry of Health in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday af­ternoon, with an address by Patron of the Leading Commit­tee Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Depu­ty Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win.

 

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Senior General high­lighted that the conference aims to enhance quality accred­itation in traditional medicine education, foster further devel­opment of traditional medicine, produce traditional medicines in line with modern standards, increase the number of quali­fied traditional medicine practi­tioners, and foster respect and appreciation for Myanmar’s traditional medical, cultural heritage.

 

He noted that the research papers should cover traditional medicines of national ethnic groups, current therapies and drugs, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of Myanmar’s medication in comparison to those of the international com­munity.

 

He underlined that records for all measures of the confer­ence and the seminar should be set systematically for new generations, adding that these records must be kept in the database, websites, and servers of the ministry.

 

The Vice-Senior General emphasized that it is neces­sary to produce traditional medicines mentioned in the research papers for public use and registration for these drugs under the law.

 

He continued that Myan­mar’s traditional medicine practitioners have to cooper­ate with international organi­zations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, ASEAN, BIMSTEC, and Me­kong in the traditional medicine sector in order to promote qual­ity accreditation in traditional medicine education and medi­cines to penetrate the interna­tional community.

 

He stressed that the con­ference needs to focus on dis­cussions to develop Myanmar’s traditional medicine education and treatises of traditional medicines and potent drugs as a national heritage.

 

He urged traditional med­icine practitioners and tradi­tional medicine producers to invite subject-wise experts from neighbouring countries and other countries to the con­ference and the seminar.

 

Chairman of the Leading Committee Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win reported on preparations to organize the conference and the seminar successfully.

 

Director-General Dr Su Su Dwe of the Traditional Med­icine Department presented the work process of the leading and work committees and plans to hold the conference and the seminar in detail.

 

The Vice-Senior General coordinated all measures dis­cussed at the meeting and gave a concluding remark. — MNA/ TTA
