THE Myanmar Academy Awards for 2024 are set to present 12 awards, with final preparations currently underway. According to U Zaw Myint Oo, Chair of the Myanmar Academy Awards Assessment Board, the evaluation process for the final 18 shortlisted films has been completed.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on 9 February 2025 in Nay Pyi Taw. This year’s assessment process reviewed a total of 49 films, with 18 being shortlisted for detailed assessment. From this selection, 12 awards will be presented to honour outstanding achievements in Myanmar’s film industry.
“Our evaluation process has concluded. In the first phase, we reviewed all 49 films, narrowing the selection to 18 finalists. Each of these 18 films was then meticulously evaluated and we are now prepared to present 12 Academy Awards,” said U Zaw Myint Oo.
The 18 shortlisted films include Bodaw Kin, Chitthu Thitha Pann Tabwint Phyit Kae Hlyin, Asoe Maya Anatta, Youkkya Kaung Ataung Hnahse, Thanyawzin Twaytha Kyihsandwe Phyit Kae Yin, Takote Taya, Phone Shwe, Mi Tin Sein, Noh Htamin, Seik Ka Kyoe, Mee, Ayet Setsone Anann, Thabin Thel Mya Hninsi, Hnaung, Ma Yae Ayeke Thwar Kya Thu Mya, Eikmet Karyan, Tein Pachi, and Metta.
The Myanmar Academy Awards 2023 ceremony was held on 3 February 2024 at the Myanmar International Convention Centre-1 (MICC-1) in Nay Pyi Taw. Artistes and professionals awarded at the ceremony received gold brooches. — ASH/ KZL
