Union Minister explores Chinese technology firm

Union Minister for Immi­gration and Population U Myint Kyaing visited Hisign Technology Co Ltd in Beijing on 18 September. During the visit, the company’s Chair­man, Mr Liu Xiaochun, pro­vided insights into the com­pany’s technical products and their performance. He also explained the utilization of technology for collecting biographic and biometric in­formation from individuals.

 

Following this, the compa­ny’s officials briefed the Union minister and his delegation on the company’s profile and the distribution of biometric technology products in col­laboration with the Chinese government, particularly in the context of the e-ID system implementation. Discussions also covered the capacity for producing ID cards.

 

On 19 September, the Un­ion minister together with My­anmar’s Ambassador to China U Tin Maung Swe, and Mr Hu Xiaoming, Director-General of the Immigration Depart­ment at the Ministry of Pub­lic Security of the People’s Republic of China, visited the Daxing International Airport in Beijing, where technolo­gy-driven passport checks and the collection of passen­ger information were dis­cussed. The implementation of technology-based immigra­tion inspection systems for e-passport holders was also examined.

 

Additionally, the delega­tion visited the Daxing Entry/ Exit and Foreigners Manage­ment Department in Beijing, where various entry visas for foreigners, residence permits, and passport issuance for Chi­nese citizens were discussed. The group also explored the 24-hour service provision for these projects using advanced technology. — MNA/TS
