Local farmers in Seikphyu Township, Magway Region, are planting winter crops on 40,268 acres this season, according to the Township Agriculture Department.
Farmers are growing onions, green grams, chickpeas, corn, legumes, oilseed crops such as sunflower, peanuts and sesame, as well as kitchen crops including chili, tomato, eggplant, and vegetables to boost household income.
To support farmers, the Township Agriculture Department has provided training on proper cultivation methods and the systematic use of fertilizers and pesticides. So far, 14,546 acres of winter crops have been successfully cultivated, meeting the seasonal target.— Ko Zwe (Anya Myay)
