THE Yangon Region Fire Services Department yesterday morning held a water-surface firefighting and search-and-rescue demonstration at Kandawgyi Natural Lake, organized under the supervision of the Yangon Region Fire Services Department.
Attending the ceremony were Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and regional ministers, the Deputy Director-General and senior officers of the Fire Services Department, Yangon Region Fire Services Department Director U Min San Aye and departmental officers, heads of regional-level departments, chairpersons and members of district and township administration committees, district and township departmental officials, members of auxiliary fire brigades, members of philanthropic and social assistance organizations from across Yangon Region, and invitees.
First, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein delivered opening remarks. This was followed by an honour guard parade in which 116 members from the Region-level Search and Rescue Company, members of the Region Special Search and Rescue (Light Team), and members of philanthropic organizations within Yangon Region marched past the Chief Minister and party aboard high-speed rescue boats. The programme continued with demonstrations including full-power engine manoeuvring, water-surface firefighting using a fire boat, rescue of drowning victims with an Intelligent Lifebuoy, and underwater rescue demonstrations using a dive suit.
Subsequently, a firefighting demonstration was conducted using three LUF NANO unmanned remote-controlled firefighting machines, procured in 2025 by the Yangon Region Government.
