A total of 50 artistes from the realms of film, theatre, music, and literature underwent eye surgery free of charge, per­formed by ophthalmologists from Japan, Cambodia, and Myanmar,” according to U Nay Win, Secretary of the My­anmar Theatrical Association (Central).

 

The ophthalmologists from Thailand, Cambodia and My­anmar are providing free eye surgical treatment to artistes from film, theatre, music and literature starting from 13 to 23 March under the patronage of Shweratu Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Dhamma Bhandagarika Myinmu Sayad­aw Bhaddanta Vamsapala Lan­kara and Tipitaka Sayadaw Bhaddanta Paññasila Lankara.

 

“The Myanmar Theat­rical Association (Central) welcomed the generous offer by the monks to provide free eye surgical treatment and ar­ranged coordination with re­lated associations to facilitate the reception of the treatment. Out of the total of 50 artistes, 20 have received eye surgi­cal treatment starting on 13 March, and the remaining will also undergo the treatment,” said U Nay Win.

 

Artistes from all over My­anmar are being given free eye surgery at the Shweratu Tipitaka Cakkhupala Eye Hos­pital (Yangon) in Dagon Myo­thit (Seikkan) Township. The hospital also provides accom­modation, food, medications, and cash for eye patients who come from other regions and states. — ASH/ MKKS
