UNION Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn met Mr David Liu, Chairman of the Exploring Myanmar Culture and Tourism Organization yesterday morning at the Ministry of Information’s reception hall in Nay Pyi Taw.

They also focused on ongoing media cooperation between Myanmar and China. In 2023, Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) collaborated with China Media Group (CMG) and Guangxi Radio and Television (GXRTV). MRTV cooperates with Yunnan Media Group as an online broadcasting through its Mekong Look App platform. In 2024, partnerships with Xinhua News Agency and Borderless Broadcast Co Ltd under the Myansat DTH brand aim to expand satellite TV broadcasts using the LaoSat 1 Satellite, jointly operated with China Rocket Company Limited and LaoSat Company.

Borderless Broadcast Co Ltd has also partnered with China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) to implement initiatives like the Multi Village Plan and Sky Star Classroom Plan. These projects aim to support agricultural and educational development in Myanmar’s border areas, reduce poverty and expand access to modern technologies. Over two years, Myansat DTH equipment, including TVs and solar-powered batteries, will be distributed to 42 villages, eventually covering 100 villages with assistance from China AID. — MNA/KZL
