THE Myanmar Red Cross Society, together with Red Cross volunteers and staff, distributed third-round cash assistance to households affected by the March 2025 earthquake in Aingdauntgyi, Kayla, Innpawkhon and Heya Ywama villages in Nyaungshwe Township, Shan State (South), on 15 and 16 January 2026.
A total of 590 households in these villages each received cash assistance at the rate of K400,000 per household, amounting to a total of K236 million.
The assistance was provided by the Myanmar Red Cross Society with support from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Norwegian Red Cross (NRC).
Red Cross volunteers and staff carried out systematic field assessments by visiting each household door to door in the respective villages. Lists of eligible beneficiaries were publicly announced at community locations within the villages, after which the assistance distribution process was carried out. — ASH/ KNN
