THE 10th World MSME Day Commemorative Event will take place on a grand scale on 27-28 June at the Myanmar International Convention Centre I (MICC I) in Nay Pyi Taw.

The event will feature booths on the MSME development from region and state MSME agencies, along with sectoral panel discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions for entrepreneurs.

World MSME Day, which will fall on 27 June, will be observed under the theme “The Future Generation of MSMEs” this year. The theme centres on transitioning to a sustainable, human-centred economic model in this rapidly advancing technological era,

emphasizing empowerment for the next generation of entrepreneurs in an AI-driven future.

The Ministry of Industry and MSME Development is organizing this event as MSMEs are a primary source of quality jobs worldwide and play a crucial role in poverty reduction. Furthermore, MSMEs unlock the innovation and creativity of youth and entrepreneurs, enabling them to expand from small-scale operations to regional and international markets, to promote sustainable business practices and responsible investment policies that do not harm the environment among global entrepreneurs and to raise public awareness of the importance of MSMEs in achieving the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

World MSME Day is annually celebrated on 27 June around the world since 2017 in recognition of the vital role of MSMEs as a key driver of job creation, poverty reduction, and economic development worldwide, according to the decision made by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). — TWA/KK
