Katha, July 27
As many as 113 tons of illegal logs were seized in Ayeyarwady river near Wegyi village in Katha township, Katha district, Sagaing region yesterday afternoon.
Forest authorities together with witnesses carried out clearance operations in the township and seized a total of 57 illegal timbers weighing 113. 302 tons hidden under bamboo rafts in Ayeyarwady river.
The authorities are searching for the owner of the illegal logs in order to bring him to court.—Lu Aung (Katha)
