Japan's health ministry says it confirmed 1,357 new coronavirus cases in Tokyo on Tuesday.
The daily tally is up 356 from a week ago.
The number of seriously ill patients who are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines is three, down one from Monday.
No deaths were reported in the capital.
Nationwide, 9,406 new cases and 14 deaths were confirmed.
