2 jade scavengers missing after slag-heap collapse in Phakant

Two jade scavengers went missing and two others were injured after a slag-heap collapse at a jade mine in Phakant Township, Kachin State on 21 June.
    

 

The accident occurred at a jade mining that belongs to Jade Lin Mining Company and Nine Golden Dragon Company near Mawmoungbuam Village in Phakant Township 4 p.m. on 21 June. A 50 ft. high slap heap collapsed while four jade scavengers were scavenging at an abandoned jade mine. Two of them went missing and two were hurt in the incident.

 


The injured people were sent to a nearby public hospital and the search and rescue operations for missing two men is ongoing.—MOHA
