23,266 tourists visit Myanmar via Tachilek in one week

Tourists used to visit Myanmar through international entrances as well as border gates to enjoy its natural landscapes, attractive tourist sites and observe a diverse range of cultures and traditions of ethnic tribes.

 

The number of day-trippers from Thailand and other countries who visited Myanmar through Tachilek border gate from July 26 to August 1 this year reached 23,266, according to official statistics provided by the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (DOHT).

 

During this week, 21,997 Thais and 318 other foreigners made a day trip to Tachilek while 46 foreigners including Thais traveled to Mongphyat and Kengtung spending nights. Meanwhile, 905 tourists visited inner towns and cities in Myanmar.

 

With the arrangement of Caravan Tours, 109 tourists entered into Myanmar via the Tachilek border gate by 37 cars, eight motorbikes, and 397 tourists also entered into Myanmar via Myawady and Tamu border gates by 112 cars, 113 motorbikes from January to August this year and left the country for Thailand via Tachilek border gate.

 

A total of 711,242 tourists visited Myanmar between January 1 to August 1 in this year, according to statistics provided by the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (DOHT).—MDN
