276 Myanmar citizens brought back home from abroad by relief flights

THE 31st relief flight of Myanmar Airways International organized by the Myanmar Embassy in Seoul landed in Yangon yesterday afternoon, with 101 citizens stranded in foreign countries.


They included 73 persons from South Korea, 1 from Indonesia, 1 from Italy, 1 from Brazil, 1 from Russia, 1 from Canada, 3 from Britain, 4 from Australia, 5 from Switzerland and 11 from the United States. 


Moreover, 175 Myanmar nationals —135 seamen and 40 former detainees— arrived back home from Malaysia by a relief flight of Myanmar Airways International organized by the Myanmar Embassy in Kuala Lumpur in the same evening.


The Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Health and Sports and the Yangon Region government arranged 7-day quarantine at specific places or designated hotels, followed by the 7-day home quarantine.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is coordinating with the relevant ministries, Myanmar embassies from respective countries, shipping companies and seamen organizations to bring back the Myanmar citizens and seamen in accordance with the instructions from National-Level Central Committee on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
