2nd flooding happened in Taninthayi

Taninthayi 27 August

According to today’s measurement, the water level of Taninthayi River reached 17 ft, its danger level due to the torrential down pour in Taninthayi Township.

Some people are being relocated to safety places because floodwater has entered into the low-lying areas in the township. During the 1st burgeoning, the water level of Taninthayi River exceeded 2 feet and 6 inches above the danger level (24 feet) between 7 and 12 August and it decreased to 10 feet on 21 August.

The torrential downpours hit Taninthayi starting from 23 August and it caused again flooding this morning.

The temporarily-opened disaster management office at Township Fire Services Department will continue to receive provision for flood victims. Traffic is still convenient on Myeik-Taninthayi-Bokpyin Union Road, according to the Township Disaster Management Committee.
