AUTHORITIES have demolished three further illegal three-storey residential buildings in the Shwe Kokko area of Myawady Township, Kayin State, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle infrastructure linked to online scams and illegal gambling activities.

Joint departmental teams are carrying out the systematic demolition of unlawful structures and the destruction of equipment used in online fraud operations based in the Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas.

Officials identified a total of 77 buildings used for illegal activities. Of these, 57 are scheduled for demolition using heavy machinery, while 20 will be destroyed through controlled blasting, depending on their structure and location.

The three buildings demolished on Tuesday were among the 57 designated for mechanical demolition. With the latest action, authorities have completed the demolition of 48 illegal buildings.

A further 29 structures remain to be removed, and officials said demolition work will continue until all identified illegal buildings have been cleared.

Authorities stated that efforts to combat online scams and illegal gambling are being treated as a national priority, with cooperation between domestic agencies and neighbouring countries to prevent such operations from re-establishing bases in Myanmar. — MNA/KZL
