Nawnkhio, 17 June
Three people died and 12 others were injured after a passenger bus overturned on a mountain slope on the Mandalay-Lashio-Muse Road in Nawnkhio Township, Shan State.
Upon receiving information about traffic accident, local p[policemen, security personnel, and volunteers rushed to the scene of accident. A passenger bus driven by a man named Thet Naing Tun from Magway with 14 people aboard flipped over between mileposts 82/6 and 82/7 on the Mandalay-Lashio-Muse Road after the driver lost control of the vehicle. Three people were pronounced dead on the spot and 12 others sustained minor injuries in the incident.
The accident is attributed to have been caused by faculty braking system of the vehicle. Action has been taken against the driver by the local police and the road reopened to traffic.
