Three men died and four others sustained minor injuries after a 12-wheel truck plummeted into a ravine in Loilem Township, Shan State, the Ministry of Home Affairs reported.
A 12-wheel truck with 6 men aboard was driven by a man identified as Aung Ko Oo, 39, and was heading to Taunggyi from Loilem. The truck plunged into a 300 ft. deep canyon between mileposts 166/2 and 166/3 on the Loilem-Taunggyi Road near Taungnaut Village, Loilem Township at about 5:40 p.m. on 5 January. Three men were pronounced dead on the scene and four others injured in the incident.
The accident is believed due to the faculty braking system of the vehicle. In connection with the case, the truck driver is being questioned over reckless driving by the local police.—MOHA
