3 killed in flash flood in SE Iran

At least three people were killed in Tuesday's flash flood in the southeastern Iranian province of Kerman, the official news agency IRNA reported on Wednesday.

The bodies of the victims, who were trapped in a sedan when the flood hit, were found on Wednesday morning, Hamid Salkhordeh, director general of Kerman's Crisis Management Department, was quoted as saying by IRNA.

He noted that five people were in the sedan, of which two managed to get out of the car before it was washed away by the deluge.

Salkhordeh added that Tuesday night's heavy rainfall has led to flooding in a number of villages in Jiroft county, stressing that the flood has damaged bridges, farmlands and houses.

According to IRNA, the heavy rainfall has caused a part of the floodwall in Jiroft county to break.
