A ceremony to mark the 31st anniversary of the nationwide political uprising which happened in August 8, 1988 was held in front of the democracy stone pillar in Yankinthar park in the town of Bago, Bago region this morning.
First, all the attendants saluted Bogyoke Aung San and the fallen martyrs. Then, U Hla Myint Than, MP of Amyotha Hluttaw who acted as the chair of the event, U Win Thein, Bago region chief minister, U Khin Maung Yin, the patron of Bago region Hluttaw, U Thein Dan, chairman of Bago region NLD party and U Kyaw Kyaw, former political prisoner said word of remembrance.
Then, poets Htet Lu and Min Phone recited narrative poems, followed by words of thanks by the chairman of the organizing committee.—Hein Htet( Bago) Translated by Khine Thaw
