Meiktila, 10 September
Four people were killed and seven others injured after a light truck overturned on the Taungtha-Meiktila Road in Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region on 9 September.
The vehicle heading to Taungtha Township from Meiktila Township was driven by a man identified as Yan Naing Aung Thu, 29 years old with 12 people aboard flipped over between milepost 30/2 and 30/3 on the Taungtha-Meiktila Road near Yonesigyi Village at about 6:30 a.m. on 9 September. The accident is attributed to have occured after front wheel of the car burst. Four people—two men and two women—died on the spot and seven others including the driver were hurt in the incident.
The injured people were transferred to a public hospital in Mahlaing Township for receiving medical treatment. Action has been taken against the driver over reckless driving by the local police.
