4 killed in rice mill collapse in north India

At least four people died and nearly 20 were injured in north India when a three-story rice mill collapsed on Monday night.

 

The victims were sleeping inside the rice mill when the incident happened, confirmed a local police officer over the phone to Xinhua.

 

The mishap occurred in the Karnal district of the northern state of Haryana. Karnal is known as a hub of rice mills.

 

A rescue operation is underway as several workers are still feared trapped. More than 100 people have been evacuated so far, said media reports.

 

The local police are questioning the owner of the mill.
