5 killed, 25 injured in south Pakistan road accident

Five people were killed and 25 others injured when two passenger buses collided in Pakistan's south Sindh province on Tuesday morning, police and rescue teams said.

The incident happened in Sukkur district where a bus heading towards east Punjab province had a head-on collision with the other one coming from Punjab at the national highway in the district, the police told media.

The injured people were shifted to a nearby hospital and several of them are in critical condition.

The cause of the accident is being determined, but according to the initial investigation by the police, the bus driver heading toward Punjab lost control of the vehicle due to over-speeding.

Road accidents frequently happen in Pakistan due to poorly maintained roads, violation of road safety rules, and reckless driving.
