About 500 families affected by recent flash floods in eastern Afghanistan's Nuristan province have received emergency food and non-food aid, the provincial government said on Monday.

The aid was provided by government agencies and humanitarian organizations, with more relief expected to arrive, the statement said.

Deadly flash floods hit Parun, the capital of Nuristan province, on July 20, claiming 25 lives, injuring 125 people, and causing an estimated 40 million U.S. dollars in damage, according to local authorities.
