81 farmers get land compensation for their grievances

A ceremony to present compensation for farmlands to those whose farmlands were confiscated for construction of a detour took place at Phayagyi Monastery in Tachilek, Eastern Shan State on 6 August.

On the occasion, Shan State Minister for Road and Communications U Khun Ye Htwe delivered an opening address. Next, Shan State Minister for Municipal Affairs U Sai San Hsai and Shan State Minister for Ahka Ethnic Affairs U Arr Bay Hla explained matters relating to the detour. The detour measuring 4 kilometers will start from No.2 Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge, pass some orchards and farmlands and connect the Tachilek-Mongphone Road.

Afterwards, the regional ministers, the regional MP, Deputy Commissioner U Myint Naing, Township Administrator U Chan Myae Saw, and representatives from the Department of Road presented Ks. 295.7 million of compensation to the 81 farmers.—IPRD
