Forest Department under Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation is implementing various ways including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS) to put down illegal logging and trading of forest products in collaboration with the people in the country.

 

From June 3 to 9 this year, a combined team seized a total of 83.79 tons of illegal timber including 25.59 tons of teak, 2.29 tons of hardwood and 55.91 tons of other types of timbers in the country, according to the statistics sent by respective Forest Department.

 

In addition, a total of 23 offenders were captured in connection with the cases along with eight vehicles and machines, according to Forest Department.—MNA
