95.81 tons of illegal timbers confiscated in December

Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation is implementing various methods including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS) to detect and seize illegal timbers and forest products in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, the states and regions in the country in collaboration with the public.

According to the statistics sent by Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, the State and Regional Forest Departments, 95.81 tons of illegal timber including illegal teak weighing 10.45 tons, 37.57 tons of hardwood, 47.78 tons of others timbers, six vehicles and 14 culprits were seized and arrested from December 18 to 24 in 2023 in the country, according to the Forest Department.—(MNA)
