THE Myanmar national futsal team will play against the Timor Leste futsal team today in the Group A match of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Championship 2019 at the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam.
A match cooperation meet-ing and a pre-press conference for the championship was held yesterday morning at the First Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
The press conference was attended by U Kyi Min Thein, the administrator of the Myanmar futsal team, on behalf of team Myanmar head coach U Htay My-int, who was busy supervising the players ahead of the championship.
During the press conference, U Kyi Min Thein said that the team got two months to prepare for the championship. Team Myanmar competed in the four-nation futsal invitational cup in China in September, as part of preparations for the tourney, he said. “And then, we have already played friendly matches with Viet Nam futsal teams here and got so much international match experience. We respect each and every competitor in the tourney. We are aiming for winning the current AFF futsal championship and also targeting to qualify for the next Asian-level futsal championship. We will do our best,” U Kyi Min Thein added.
Myanmar will face Timor Leste today in the opening match of the championship, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. Myanmar Standard Time, according to the Myanmar Football Federation.
