AFF Women’s Championship: Myanmar book semifinal berth with 10-1 win over Cambodia

THE  Myanmar  women’s  na-tional football team advanced to the semifinals after trounc-ing  the  Cambodian  team  by  10-1 in group play for the AFF Women’s  Championship  2019  yesterday  at  the  Institute  of  Physical  Education  in  Chonburi, Thailand.


Led by head coach U Win Thu  Moe,  Myanmar  lined  up  with goalkeeper Thandar Oo, Khin Myo Win, Chit Chit, Phyu Phyu  Win,  Aye  Aye  Moe,  Nu  Nu,  May  Thu  Kyaw,  Khin  Mo  Mo Tun, Win Theingi Tun, Captain  Khin  Marlar  Tun,  and  Yi Yi Oo.


Myanmar  dominated  the match throughout with better  football  possession.  May  Thu  Kyaw  scored  the  opening  goal  for  the  team  at 30 minutes.


Two minutes later, Khin Marlar Tun scored the sec-ond goal for Myanmar with a long-range kick.


Myanmar kept up their tempo, with Yi Yi Oo scoring the third goal for Myanmar at 45 minutes, and the first half  ended  with  Myanmar  leading by 3 goals.

Myanmar  netted  their  fourth  goal  at  60  minutes,  which  was  scored  by  Win  Theingi Tun.


Four  minutes  later,  Khin  Moe  Wai  landed  an-other goal for Myanmar.
With Cambodia’s defense crumbling,  Yi  Yi  Oo  scored  the  sixth  goal  for  Myanmar  at 73 minutes.


Cambodia managed their lone goal in the match from a  penalty  shoot  at  77  min-utes. It was scored by Somrit Nimol.


The seventh goal for My-anmar  was  scored  by  Thin  Thin  Yu  at  79  minutes  and  eighth goal by Yi Yi Oo at 89 minutes.


Meanwhile, Win Theingi Tun landed the ninth goal at 90 minutes.


The final and tenth goal for Myanmar was scored by Yi  Yi  Oo  during  extra  time.  Cambodia did not make any more  goals  till  the  match  ended.


Myanmar women team-will next play their last Group B  match  against  Viet  Nam  to decide who will reach top spot  position  in  the  semifi-nals  on  20  August.—Lynn  Thit (Tgi)
