AIA Myanmar to donate solar panels to Bagan residents

31 October

Life insurance company AIA Myanmar will donate electric solar panels to a hundred village households in Bagan on 17 November to celebrate the company’s centenary, Chief Marketing Officer Ms Linh Nguyen told journalists at Sule Shangri-La Hotel yesterday.

AIA’s main group was founded in 1919 and has offices in 18 countries. Ms Nguyen said AIA mainly provides health and life insurance and said they have been ready to enter Myanmar’s market since insurance companies were given the green light back in April. She said people in most countries put 10 per cent of their income into life insurance and it has become a common practice for them in safeguarding their lives.

At 4 am on 17 November, AIA will organize a 50km walk and running competition for the locals beginning from Htee Lo Min Lo Pagoda. The winners will be gifted with a chance to view Bagan’s scenery from the skies. At the same time, they will be handing over the solar panels for 100 households to relevant local authorities.
