Vietnam, this year's chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, says it has deferred the ASEAN summit from early April to late June due to the spread of the new coronavirus.
Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc reportedly sent letters on Thursday to leaders of the other ASEAN nations to inform them of the postponement.
The coronavirus has been spreading across Southeast Asia, with Malaysia confirming more than 550 cases.
Measures including travel restrictions are in place in the region to contain the spread of the virus.
