A meeting of Asian managers from the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) was held at the Park Royal Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The meeting aimed for new opportunities and technical updates under the enhancing immunization programmes, and it was also taken part by the experts from John Hopkins Medical Institutions, the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund, CDC, PATH, John Snow Inc, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Melbourne.
At the event, Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe made a keynote speech, saying that it would be beneficial to discuss latest technology on vaccine, and that he is confident that the discussion of prestigious universities and organizations would bring about new ideas.
He added that efficiency, technology, facilities, socio economic environment, maintaining cold chain and other management matters are involved in the vaccination programme.
He also advised to conduct researches to overcome challenges and alleviate weakness.
He suggested the health professional need to carry out data analysis, and to report the findings to relevant departments.
The Union Minister remarked that the public healthcare knowledge is directly related with the success of vaccination programmes, and the knowledgeable people will surely come together at the vaccination centres.
At the meeting, the experts discussed about Seasonal Flu, Japanese Encephalitis, Rotavirus, Cervical Cancer, Rabies Update, Diphtheria and Hepatitis B which can be protected by vaccinations.
