Belgium to impose lockdown from Wednesday

Belgium will impose nationwide restrictions on people's movements to contain the spread of the new coronavirus.

The government says the lockdown will start from noon on Wednesday until April 5.

Residents will be allowed to go out to buy food.

They will also be allowed to go to pharmacies, banks and post offices.

All schools, restaurants and bars are already shut.

Brussels Airlines announced they will suspend all flights for about a month, from Saturday until April 19 due to the sudden drop in demand.

Belgium has confirmed 1243 cases of infection and 10 deaths.
