Britain reportedly drawing up sanctions on Iran

A British newspaper says ministers are drawing up plans to impose sanctions against Iran in response to the capture of a British-flagged tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Daily Telegraph broke the news, saying the sanctions may include asset freezes.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been investigating the tanker and its crew since it impounded the vessel on Friday. The corps says the tanker violated international maritime regulations. 

But Britain has been demanding the release of the vessel and its crew, saying Iran's claims are groundless.
