IN this year’s mango season, Shwehintha mango quality has improved, and there are just a few imperfect fruits among the produce, said border fruit trad­ers.

 

Farmers will need to choose a harvest time depending on the weather, so that their mangoes will look fresh and beautiful and can fetch a good price, said a trader.

 

“I see many farmers are harvesting mangoes even af­ter it has rained. I would like to suggest that they consider the weather before harvest, so that their fruits will be attractive on shelves,” he said.

 

For exporting, it is best to let the mangoes cool for a certain period before packaging them in the dry season, he said.

 

In this mango season, Shwehintha mango quality has improved with just a few flaws. However, in the domestic mar­ket, consumers still believe that Seintalone mango is the best. So, traders say they are eager to introduce the flavour of Shwe­hintha mango and its quality to foreign markets, especially Chi­nese consumers. — MT/ZS
