A ceremony to provide cash aids to storm victims in Katha Township, Sagaing Region was held at Township General Administration Department yesterday.
The strong winds hit wards and villages in Katha Township on 6 May and it devastated some houses and religious buildings.
An official from the Regional Department of Disaster Management handed over K 9,395,000 to Chairman of Township Management Committee.
Due to the forceful winds, roofs of 199 houses and five religious buildings were flipped over and three houses were collapsed. Therefore, officials from the Township Management Committee will make a domiciliary visit to provide cash aids to the victims in the wards and villages.
In Katha District, roofs of 324 houses and eight religious buildings were turned over and six houses were destroyed. The officials from the District Department of Disaster Management will provide cash aids to the
victims in other Townships in Katha District.
