An event to provide cash aid and relief items to people whose homes became relocated due to the danger of Thanlwin riverbank erosion was held at the office of the Township General Administration Department in Hlaingbwe Township of Kayin State this morning.
The water level of Thanlwin River in Hlaingbwe Township has reached 1280 centimeters on September 14 and exceeded 1050 centimeters of its danger level. Due to the rising water level of Thanlwin River, 8 houses in Sanpya Ward and Ywarthit Ward-1 in Shwegon Village in Hlaingbwe Township located near Thanlwin River Bank were destroyed, and local people were temporarily evacuated to safer places.
Under this cash assistance program, 57 people from eight households in Shwegon Village received a total of K. 1.11 million for purchasing rice and rescue kit boxes with 16 items, according to an official from the Township Department of Disaster Management.—Township IPRD
