THE governor of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and the governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar met at the Central Bank of the Russian Federation in Moscow, the Russian Federation, on 29 June to discuss issues related to banking cooperation between Myanmar and Russia and improving the performance of the staff of the Central Bank of Myanmar.
The Myanmar delegation also met officials from Sber Bank in Moscow to detail the bank’s latest services, including advanced cybersecurity, anti-fraud tech, and its card-free “Smile Pay” biometric system.
Additionally, the delegation led by the Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar attended the Monetary Conference organized by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation in Saint Petersburg from 1 to 3 July with discussing of the development of new technologies in the international financial market, the use of digital platforms based on the Russian Ruble in the financial market, the need for stricter supervision by banking regulators with the introduction of cryptocurrencies, and macroeconomic stability policies.
Afterwards, the Governor of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation hosted the exchange of views with the Governors of the Central Banks attending the Financial Conference.
The Financial Conference was attended by almost 11,000 representatives from 18 countries, including the Governors, deputy governors and heads of financial institutions from the Central Banks of Indonesia, Belarus, India, Egypt, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Nicaragua.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Nicaragua and the Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar met separately to discuss banking cooperation between Myanmar and Nicaragua. The delegation led by the Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar returned to Myanmar on 5 July. — MNA/MKKS
