GOVERNOR of the Cen­tral Bank of Myanmar Dr Khin Naing Oo received Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Abhay Thakur and his team at the Central Bank of My­anmar in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

 

They held cordial discussions on issues re­lating to the further de­velopment and benefits of the Indian rupee-My­anmar kyat direct pay­ment system for trade and investment. They also discussed ongoing collaboration to develop interoperability between UPI QR and RuPay sys­tems and Myanmar’s MMQR infrastructure, involving the Reserve Bank of India, the Na­tional Payments Corpo­ration of India (NPCI), the Central Bank of Myanmar MMQR Consortium, and the Myanmar Payment Union (MPU), as well as the draft agreement on the establishment of a bilateral currency ar­rangement between the Indian Rupee and Myan­mar Kyat, and measures to further strengthen mu­tually beneficial banking cooperation.

 

The meeting was at­tended by Deputy Gov­ernors and departmental officials from the Central Bank of Myanmar. — MNA/MKKS
