Children Literary Festival (Toungoo) opens

Opening ceremony of Children Literary Festival (Toungoo), books exhibition and sales jointly organized by Information and Public Relations Department, Basic Education Department and Toungoo District Management Committee was held at Khabaung Hall, Toungoo yesterday morning.

 

First, Bago Region Chief Minister U Win Thein, Deputy Minister for Information U Aung Hla Tun, Region Minister for Kayin Ethnic Affairs Naw Pwai Say, Region Minister for Social Affairs Daw Nyunt Nyunt Htay, Toungoo District Management Committee Chairman U Moe Htat, Region Hluttaw representative U Aye Min Win and outstanding students cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the festival, books exhibition and sales and took commemorative group photo.


Second part of the ceremony was then held in Khabaung Hall where Bago Region Chief Minister U Win Thein and Deputy Minister U Aung Hla Tun delivered speeches. In his speech, the Bago Region Chief Minister explained about the aims of holding the festival, books exhibitions and sales; Union, district and township level festivals, books exhibitions and sales held in Bago Region and expressed his appreciation to all who had supported towards the successful holding of the Children Literary Festival (Toungoo), books exhibition and sales.


In his speech, the Deputy Minister spoke about developing children and youngsters’ reading habit, past and planned children literary festivals, books exhibitions and sales.


After the opening ceremony, the Region Chief Minister, Deputy Minister, Region ministers, officials and guests went around the festival, exhibits and sale shops. —District IPRD (Translated by Zaw Min)
