With a view to raising reading habits among general public, the children’s literature festival was opened in conjunction with a book fair in Loilem, Southern Shan State this morning.
The event is held with the aim of raising reading habits among youths, promoting the value of literature and inculcating the habit of reading, said U Nyi Thut, an event organizer from Thukhabone Publishing House in Yangon. A total of 19 booths are featuring about 30000 books ranging from fictions to children’s literature.
The book fair was formally opened by Deputy Township Administrator U Ye Min Khaung, an officer from the Information and Public Relations Department and members of a local book club. The event will open to public till 25 July.—Moe Lwin Oo (Loilem)
