THE Air China’s flight from Beijing carrying disaster-relief supplies offered by the Chinese government arrived in Myanmar yesterday to aid the earthquake victims in Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, northeastern Shan State, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area and Bago Region.
The supplies included tents, medicines, blankets, bedsheets, mosquito nets and commodities weighing 87,075 kilogrammes.
On arrival at the Yangon International Airport, Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, regional ministers, senior Tatmadaw officers, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms Ma Jia and other relevant officials observed the processes.
The Chinese ambassador gave an explanation about the donation, and the regional chief minister expressed gratitude. Efforts are underway to arrange the supplies, which will be sent to disaster-stricken areas shortly. — Zwe Htet Ko (IPRD)/KTZH
