In Commemoration of 73rd Martyrs’ Day

Deedok U Ba Cho (24 April 1893 – 19 July 1947)

HEWAS born on Monday, 24 Apr 1893 in Myaungmya and his parents were Sayar U Boe Sar and Daw Myit.

 

While he studied at Myaungmya Primary School, he was awarded a scholarship. He also matriculated in A Grade and earned an honourable scholarship again. He quit the university because of the problem of his poor eyesight. Then he became a teacher in Paungde and Hinthada.

 

In 1920, he was married Daw Hla May. They had four daughters but two died in Japanese Occupation.

 

He was a parliamentary councillor of the Government of Burma in Japan-era and supported the writing Burmese National Constitution. He was assassinated on 19 July 1947 at 10:37 am but he died at 01:45 pm. He was survived by his wife and two daughters (Ma Khin Pu and Ma Khin Khin Oo).
