Coordination meeting discusses progress in Schoolbook production, distribution

Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint presided over the meeting of Schoolbook Printing and Distribution Committee in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.


The 3rd meeting of committee in this year discussed production of the books for basic education schools in good quality and in timely manner for 2021-2022 academic year.


Union Minister Dr Pe Myint, in his capacity as chairman of committee, explained the ministry’s role in the book production processes, the works of Printing and Publishing Department, production contracts with private sector in line with tender rules and coordination of his office with the Ministry of Education for ensuring quality of books.


Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi explained the collaboration between the two ministries for better qualities of books, supplying all the class-levels of school children with books and stationeries during the COVID-19 period. Deputy Minister U Aung Hla Tun, the chairman of schoolbook printing sub-committee, and Deputy Minister for Education U Win Maw Tun, the chairman of schoolbook distribution sub-committee, discussed better working process of the sub-committees.


Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung, the deputy chairman of schoolbook production committee, presented formation of committees and sub-committees, production plans for 2021-2022 academic year; Action Director-General of Printing and Publishing Department U Ko Ko Naing about the updates on book production, Director-General U Ko Lay Win from the Department of Basic Education about timely completion of the process. 


Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Electricity and Energy U Tin Maung Oo and Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Planning, Finance and Industry U Ko Ko Lwin presented the work plans of their ministries. 


Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung took records on eight decisions of the meeting.
