The Correctional Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs celebrated its 12th anniversary in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The event was attended by State Administration Council Member Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, deputy ministers, the permanent secretary, directors-general, and staff of the department.
At the ceremony, the Union Minister highlighted the objectives and eight-point roadmap of the Correctional Department and the need to follow two national visions, two political visions, a five-point roadmap and nine objectives of the government as “policy”.
He then urged the staff to treat the prisoners as per the motto of the department and make efforts to be reliable for the public and outstanding staff by following the law, rules, procedures and directives of the department.
Next, he presented Ye Bala medals, certificates of honour, and cash awards to the wives and families of nine recipients of Loikaw Prison, while foodstuffs and cash assistance were given to the staff.
Deputy ministers, the permanent secretary and the director-general of the Correctional Department also awarded the staff who won prizes in Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competitions and outstanding staff. — MNA/ KTZH
