AN educational talk, exhibition, and various competitions were held on 23 June at the Community Centre of the Department of Information and Public Relations (IPRD) in Dawbon Township, Yangon Region, to mark the upcoming International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26 June.

The event commenced with an informative lecture by Information and Public Relations Department Staff Officer Daw Chit Su Wai, who shed light on the historical arrival of narcotics in Myanmar and educated the audience on the severe consequences of drug abuse. The talk was followed by a “Steer Clear of Drugs” poetry competition and an educational quiz designed to raise awareness about the dangers of narcotics. Officials later presented awards to the winners of each contest.

Later in the afternoon, informative “Information” pamphlets published by the IPRD were distributed to the attending students. Educational wall posters and a book exhibition were also put on display, drawing keen interest from the students who enthusiastically explored the exhibits. — Chit Su Wai (IPRD)/ST
