Deputy Sport Minister enjoys Myanmar team matches in Asian Games

The XIX Asian Games hosted by the People’s Republic of China are being held at designated locations. Myanmar Olympic Committee General Secretary Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Myo Hlaing and officials of the governing body attended the archery competition held at the Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre in Hangzhou at 9 am local time yesterday morning.

 

In this competition, Thiha Htet Zaw from Myanmar competed in Archery (men’s) recurve event and ranked 30th with a total score of 639 out of 84 con­testants. At 2 pm local time, Pyae Sone Hnin continued to compete in Archery (Women’s) Recurve and ranked 63rd with a total score of 578 out of 84 contestants.

 

The Myanmar team defeated the Lao team by 2:1 in the men’s (a team of four) event of Sepak Takraw held at 9 am local time. In the women’s (a team of four) competition, the Vietnamese team won the Myanmar team by two games. At 2 pm, the Myanmar team crushed the Japanese team 2-0.

 

Myanmar Sepak Takraw team will face Indonesia in the men’s a team of four event today 9 am and Viet Nam will take on Myanmar at 2 pm.

 

In the women’s a team of four event of Sepak Takraw Myanmar will fly in the face off Indonesia at 2 pm. In the Archery Recurve Mixed Team event, Myanmar will compete with Indonesia at 9 am.

 

The first day of the four-man Sepak Takraw competition at the Asian Games began on 1 October in Hangzhou, China, where Myanmar teams competed.

 

In the Men’s event, the Myanmar team won the Lao team 2-1 and secured a good result in the opening match. The Myanmar team was defeated by 19-21 points in the first game, but won the second game with 21-18 points and 22-20 points in the third.

 

Team Myanmar will take on Indonesia at 7 am Myanmar Standard Time and Viet Nam at 12 pm Myanmar Standard Time today. In the women’s competition, the Myanmar team competed in two groups, winning one and losing one. In the first game, the Myanmar team lost to the Viet­namese team with 15-21 and 10-21 points, but in the second game, they won over the Japanese team by 21-14 and 21-4 points.
