Domestic animals receive vaccine in Pwint Phyu Tsp 

Pwint Phyu, 17 June 

As part of efforts to prevent the spread of animal infectious diseases, two teams from Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department are making domiciliary visits to villages in Pwint Phyu township, Magway region to give free vaccines to domestic animals such as buffaloes, oxen, chicken, pigs and dogs starting from April this year, according to Assistant Director Dr. Thant Zaw of the said department.

 “ A total of 12640 heads of cattle in 132 villages, 6100 chickens in 58 villages, 240 pigs in 18 villages have been vaccinated against infectious diseases. 126 dogs in 18 villages and 75 dogs in 23 villages have been given vaccine against rabies and dog pox. The department will continue to finish its vaccination program in the remaining 72 villages during this month. Besides, the department has been providing farmers and animal breeders with trainings in animal breeding, animal disease prevention and artificial insemination,” said Dr. Thant Zaw Htwe.—Ye Win Naing (Nyaung-U)
